Cadeaux on Bicyclette

May 27, 2008

Just got back from a wedding in Vancouver, a city with tons of cyclists of all kinds! It was just a weekend and a friend I was staying with offered her road bike up for me so I didn't bother bringing my own. Different to ride, but very enjoyable. I especially like the little gears for all those hills.

After rehearsal dinner where my friend gave me a beautifully wrapped gift, we had to get it home. Luckily the bike had a back rack. We took the ribbon off the cadeaux and tied it on. Ta da!

Also, the gift turned out to be a Design House Stockholm "Carrie" bike basket in white! How fitting. Both for a "best girl" gift at a wedding and specifically, for me! My gorgeous friend knows me well. I am feeling the love.

What a perfect gift!
How do you like the basket? Which bike will get to wear it?

Gah - I'm so jealous! That basket is AMAZING. I've been drooling over them for a while.... but my only ride is the Dahon Curve and I don't think it would work on a Curve!

It is lovely - can't wait to see it in action!

I think I'll put it on Jürgen the Amsterdam cruiser (when it's back from the shop). I'm not going to lie, getting the white basket really made me want to go out and buy a Oma bike in black!

Yeah, I think a much smaller basket would be more appropriate for the Curve. But the handlebars on that thing are so high, I find it perfectly good to just hook a bag over the top. Never gets caught in the spokes!

You are so lucky! I've seen these on the web, but so far not in town. I'm thinking of spray-painting my black wire basket in a bright colour, though :)
