These are the cute lai-see (lucky money envelopes) I gave away to my sister, little cousins, and little niece.

I wore a festive Chinese embroidered jacket to my big family dinner last night. We also carpooled. Praise living somewhere close to all the good restaurants!

Jelly fish, pickled vegetables, duck covered in this peanut sauce stuff... so delicious.

This is my handsome dad! He's the best:)

Shark fin soup.

Gng Hey Fat Choy!
Where'd you find lai-see envelopes that aren't red in color? I've only ever found red ones.
The chain snapped on my red bike yesterday afternoon, so my son was driven to dinner in a conventional mini-van. He's only one, so maybe next year!
Who's the photographer? These pictures are really beautiful!
Ian,
Sun lean fai-lok to you too!

Dottie,
I'm the photographer! Don bought me a fancier little canon for Christmas and I've been experimenting with it. It's totally fun to take pictures with. I still carry my little snap and shoot because it's smaller to lug around.

I was in China four times and loved this country and culture forever. To be frank, I want to move there.. Or any place that to be in touch with Chinese culture! :-)
My girlfriend and me ispired by Your bike commuting and do the same in Sevastopol, Ukraine. Though, it`s not common for our city to commute on bikes.
Keep on riding and make this wonderful blog!
Thank You!
Happy Chinese New Years!
Love your post, the photos make me feel like I was there, very warm and inviting.
Reminds me of some very wonderful celebrations I had in San Francisco ChinaTown with dear friends, years past.
I love everything but the shark fin soup, though I know it's an amazing tradition and incredible treat to be served, especially on New Years.
