So we're back to having -30 C/-20 F ish weather, with wind chills on top, etc. Don and I were leaving an event on Saturday night and were walking one and a half blocks to city hall to go grab the car and within that 2-3 minute interval (it felt like a really long time) the wind was blowing right through my wool dress coat. Brutal!
These super cold days come in little waves and Don and I tend to buckle down and hibernate in the bungalow with DVDs and coffee drinks. Everybody talks about moving away from Edmonton when it's cold like this... and although I'm not the first person to run outside without my coat on and dance around on the front lawn, I realize the cold is temporary.
This is life at the bungalow while we're waiting for things to unfreeze a bit.

How cold did it get in Edmonton? It was -32 C this morning in PG. BRRRRRRRRRRRR...Too cold to bike, so I walked to work. Do you bike much in real cold weather? What's your temp cutoff?
Yesterday, I attempted a quick bike to store, and had difficulty with stiff frozen cable lock, then food falling out of bag, then of falling off bike cause it for some reason decided to skip gears. (Seems ok though) I was all bundled with my down jacket, snow pants, scarf, gloves, sunglasses...brrrrrr. Where's Spring?
Brrrr, that's cold! There were only a couple of days that cold in Chicago this winter. Love the photos, as always. Makes me want a doggy, although my cats would not approve.
Nothing beats a little cozy cottage or bungalow when it's cold and windy outside. During our last big snow storm, a sudden wifely instinct took over and I baked cookies - ginger snaps, oatmeal raisin, and peanut butter.
A warm puppy is icing on the cake on days like this.
awww Dougal!!
stay warm :)
It warms me up to hear about a place colder than here.
ps. Stop sending us those Alberta Clippers. ;)
Hi Carolyn!
I usually stop biking if it's -20 or colder. It depends on the time of day and whether it's sunny too. Mostly what will deter me from biking is the condition of the snow/ice/slush. I've decided that I don't like 'snowplowing'. It's very time consuming. I also can't wait for spring, I've got a pair of wellies ready to take on all the brown road splatter!

Hey Dottie,
Yeah, the doggie is cool but lots of maintenance! I originally wanted a cat (my parents have cats), but Don claims to be allergic. So... dog it was!

She Rides,
I bake too when it's cold! Mostly because once you're on a roll it doesn't seem like that much trouble. Flour. Sugar. Eggs... Ta da!
