SPACE FOR A HEADER PICTURE

I had to go to the lab yesterday for a series of 28 weeks pregnant tests. Walking to the lab that I like (there's this lady there that is so good at taking blood, you barely realize it's happening) takes about 20-25 mins. Walking in the snow actually slows me down quite a bit. No traction! Driving takes about 10 minutes once you factor in the lights and the parking. Well, factoring in the parking probably means 15 mins. The bike takes me 8.

Upon getting into the garage I discovered that my beater bike had a flat! Very demoralizing:( Particularly because it's so cold out there... hanging out in the freezing garage to change it doesn't strike me as fun. And the bike is SO filthy. And our little bike fixing stand is barricaded in the shed. Sigh. So I rode pretty Pashley through the yucky snow again.

Poor Pashley. She's such a trooper.

I've been riding my new bike in the snow for the last week or so..the roads are getting sloshy now in the afternoon. Hate making her so dirty, but it's so much quicker biking to work then walking. And I bought her to use her...

I just washed her down outside to keep the drive train as clean as possible- full of mud, etc... and to make her look clean again. But no doubt she'll get dirty tommorrow. May end up cleaning daily until roads clear up.

Where's Spring? I'm sure fellow employees think I'm nuts biking in snow, although I lied to one and said I walked it to work. Yeh, right!! LOL!!

You'll have to get Don to fix the tire on the Raleigh. Isn't that part of the husband job description???

I really think the Pashley is a perfect bike for the snow, with her enclosed chain, brakes, and gears. The powder coating should be super durable. My Oma not only survived but thrived through the winter and I never even cleaned her :)

Sorry you still have all that snow. Chicago was 70 degrees today!

Dottie,

WHAT?! That's insane! 70... today we're 14F/-10C and that's quite warm! The worst thing is that it will probably thaw at some point in the next 3 weeks. But we ALWAYS get a surprise storm before May. Then it's crazy cold and the snow is 2 feet tall again. Weep... weep...

Bruce & Freth,

I know, I should make Don do it. But, I'm already making him paint the whole basement (including the ceiling). I feel as though my favour credits have been maxed out for the time being. There's also no room to do it easily (garage is packed with crap that should be living inside the house, but the basement is not done). I'll get somebody to get around doing it... some time:)

Carolyn,

Yeah, I feel guilty mostly just because I'm not cleaning her at all. And the snow that gets stuck on her stays there for days because it just never gets warm enough to melt off. But, I did buy her to use her! I just feel bad that I have an ugly bike that I wouldn't feel at all guilty about abusing. Oh well, Pashley is strong!

The grass, weeds, and clover were all 4" tall ... had to go out and mow the yard today. Think I sunburned my neck. I was just wearing t-shirt, shorts, and crocs. May be too hot to take a bicycle ride this afternoon ... :-)

Can't imagine riding in the snow, but I'd love to try it someday!

Cheers to you!

Love the classy bike.
