What a glorious weekend of good weather and friends! Currently Don is out to the gym on his new Karate Monkey. He was hesitating for years about whether to outfit his old GT with winter tires and it turned into one of those things where by the time he had thought about it for too long it was already spring, so GT's transformation was always pending and never an actuality.
Having recently seen Kona's transformation and hearing my rave reviews about studded tires, Don decided to indulge his other winter bike plan and got himself a new mountain bike. As you readers may know, we sort of have a bike excess happening on our end, which is why Don hesitated on the new ride.
I'm glad he went for it because he's been riding almost every day either on Dougal treks into the river valley, the gym, his physio, or work. He finally even set up his man closet at his office to keep some suits and shirts and such. Though I prefer to always wear normal clothes when riding (regardless the season), Don likes putting on the cycling tight pants and armpit breathing jackets in inclement weather. He sweats a lot more than I do and rides a lot harder. Taking the train was good in that he could catch up on some reading on the way to city hall. But biking has the advantage of being far more cardiovascular and invigorating before his busy days.
Yesterday it was a glorious and balmy -10 C/14 F and today it's 0 C. This was simply delightful.

To enjoy the weather we went for a family excursion in the dog park so Dougal could romp with all his canine friends.

Later on that night we had new friends come over for dinner. How delicious. They brought various nubs of dough to be rolled and finished at the bungalow and then topped it off with a rustic puttanesca featuring Four Whistle Farm lamb. What a treat to have something so local and fresh! It's one of those instances when you eat food that tastes like real food. Yum.

Watching Nate and his wife make pasta is like mini performance art. How fun and pretty! Even Dexter took a turn at churning with the handle.

After a wonderful meal (there was bread pudding too) we lay around pontificating randomly with lots of drinks. Random pontification with a tasty beverage ranks highly on my list of desirable activities.
Will be sure to lather, rinse, and repeat this process. And not just on weekends!

Bob and I made our linquini a few weeks ago - the whole wheat variety. It was so fun and so, so tasty! We're thinking of quitting the box variety and just making our own all the time, it was quite easy.
ahhhh. sigh....
I can't believe you are in a skirt though!
Beautiful snow photos. Almost makes me want a dog to tramp around with, but I'm so a cat person.
Must see pictures of Don's Karate Monkey. What's with guys and riding hard? My husband seems incapable of not breaking a sweat, unless he's stuck behind me and Oma.
I need to buy one of those contraptions and learn how to make pasta. I'll add that to my looong list of resolutions :)
yummm pasta!! :D
cute dogs and that first picture of you is super –"we sort of have a bike excess happening on our end,".. haaa gotta love that ;-)
