The other night I was riding Kona out to a movie and realized... I should have taken Pashley instead! We're experiencing a thaw and it's wet and melty. Just the sort of thing to flick mud bits all over my back. Luckily these days I'm wearing a very not-important coat with the Kona.
I thought I would post some pictures of Kona's cargo solution, the Freitag bike bag.
I wear it when I'm not wearing my Cambridge Satchel, my Roots Olivia Bag, or my Coach Madison Large Leather Hippie. These are all my bags that can be worn across the body.
However, Frietag has the purses all beat when it comes to carrying lots of books and some groceries.
It's got a handsome flap with super sticky velcro.

And if you've got tons of stuff you can fold out this extra part to increase cargo capacity.

Inside.

Each bag is unique because it is made out of recycled tarps. I picked one that has the letters L and S on it in lower cases. I like to think it's short for "little sarah". It's not as fashionable as my other bags, but sometimes I just need an obviously bike-related item to do the job. If you've been looking for a good bike bag I would highly recommend one of these.
Downside might be back sweat. I'm a bad judge of these things because I don't normally suffer from back sweat.

What a great bag Sarah!! I've been looking for a nice across the chest bag for when I bike and now that the sun has been peeking out I need one now more than ever.
Hasn't the sun been wonderful?? If it holds over the weekend we'll be out biking. We didn't this winter because we live in a three floor condo (no elevator either) and I didn't relish bringing in all the slush and wet into our entryway. But I think I could brave it now if it stays pretty clear
Sharp bag. Sweat is a problem for me, so I always use a basket or pannier, but otherwise looks like a fun and utilitarian choice.
You must be looking forward to spring rides with the Pashley. As great as winter bikes are, variety is the spice of life :)
I'm a big Freigtag fan. Just lovely. They never tire for me even though they have been around for sometime - good design is timeless.
My wife told me, "No. You don't need one of those."
Even after I went to the site and showed her fotos ...
I found your blog through borderjoy.com and have to say I really, really like it :)
I live in Finland and we gave up our car last autumn and noticed how much fun (and easy) it is to go to places riding our bikes. And how often we made the choice to go grocery shopping in our car, although it takes only 10 minutes with bikes. Now I'm just wondering if I could teach our BT to stay in a basket while riding, he is already almost three years old (and looks a lot like your Dougal!) :) In the summer I will definitely have to try and teach him (I don't ride my bike in the winter, I either walk or take the bus).
I'll definitely be following your blog, it's just great and I love your style!

P.S. It's nice that you like Marimekko :)
I sympathize with the sweat challenge...the front basket on my Pashley can't hold my backpack, so I'm getting a more utlilitarian (but pretty( basket soon. I don't like arriving to work with a sweaty back but I just fold up a dressy blouse for work and a small towel so I can at work.
I also hope to get some pretty side bags for my Princess Sovereign so I can haul more prosciutto & bottles of lemon Pellegrino home from the italian centre, haha! We should meet up there when the puddles dry up :)
1st I have to say: I found your blog some time ago while doing a search for the Pashley Princess - nice blog indeed & will be following!
That bag looks good - I'm going to be looking for a cross-chest bag when I get my bike, as I know that I won't use the basket for everything, especially when I use it to ride to work... I like the look Freigtag.
