Light at the End of the Tunnel.

I'm convinced that Edmonton is going to get some unexpected snow storming before spring is finally here, but I can definitely feel the light at the end of the tunnel. The general malaise is subsiding. I'm starting to feel inspired again. I feel more engaged. The sun is still out at 4 pm. One of my students brought me this wonderful hyacinth. Yes!

The one thing about living in Edmonton is how grateful everybody is when it's spring and summer. Having four distinct seasons makes me appreciate the absence of winter so much more. And winter makes me tough so it's all good, but at this time of the year I'm just aching for riding a bike at midnight with no coat.

For now I'll just have to placate myself with short sleeves.

And nothing says spring is coming like a new pair of sandals... for now I have to wear them with tights.

Dexter's face is doing well and despite his cold this week (just sniffles and a cough). He is as affable as ever. He has recently graduated from commando crawling to hands and knees. He spent the better part of the weekend in this spiderman pose while learning how to balance himself in a new way. Super Dexter!

Dougal likes to sit on the lap of this student while I teach theory.

The weekends are rolling by and the days are getting lighter. Tick tock, tick tock... things are looking up.

Can really sympathise with you on this one. Scotland has had the harshest winter in 30 years. Over 3 months later and we still have snow!!
Today though I am doing a first, I am off for a bike ride when I don't need to! Usually I am the person who only cycles to GET somewhere, like a friends house or the shops, but since I have only been on the bike 3 times since Xmas I am determined to go out everyday and blow away some cobwebs!

Yes!

I woke up today on my own at 6:30. ( I'm a big sleepy head and get woken by the alarm at 7 which is heaven compared to when Girlpie woke me at 6 as a baby/toddler). I stayed in bed but didn't feel exhausted and the sun light was at that time of day this time of year lands right on my pillow and it's like Super Juice light- infusing me with happiness and goodness. The return of light is so key. Although the US is doing daylight savings this sunday and I am not prepared with the new commencement of switch over. Next week the 6:30 bright slow wake up will be 7:30 and I'll have to be all ready to go like I am now. boo on that. I needed a month to wind into it IYKWIM.

I hope the snow does not come for you. I love your skirt.

Yay! So glad to hear that Dexter's doing better and that life continues to be good! Spring-anticipation makes a big difference too :)

I feel spring coming in Michigan, too! I already feel less depressed. Thank goodness!

Also, I love your skirt! The huge pleats are so cute.

I saw this and thought of you.

With your penchant for inspiring others to ride, i thought you would like this, it would allow new comers to plan their route, which may make it seem less daunting, if that were an issue. And its a just a good tool.

I ran in the 53 degree weather yesterday, up from running in the teens and such. It was so nice and hopeful. Its raining now but isn't that a great sign of spring too! Not the greatest riding conditions for a pretty dress though.

I like the pleated skirt and striped blouse combo...and wow, killer shoes!!!!
Your sweet baby looks energetic and happy!
There is no snow left on my front lawn, yay! I am feeling peppier, too. Bruce bought me a Basil Mirte shopping bag to hook onto my Pashley's rear rack. I rode Pash to the italian centre and filled up my Mirte bag w/goodies. It is super roomy. Now I need one more bag to balance both sides of my Pashley, haha!

Love the sandals!
Can I enquire as to where you found them?
I'm looking for a slight platform like that in white or beige, and everything I'm finding looks like stripper shoes, which is not what I'm looking for.

All the bulbs are starting to sprout in my little pocket-sized yard- I check on them every morning before I ride off. And if I were not working crazy hours, and leaving at quitting time, I could actually maybe ride home in twilight. One more week to Daylight savings!

Kelly - I know, I find it harder to bike for recreation as opposed to transportation:)

Mama - We're doing daylight savings too! I can't wait to get some colour... maybe it'll make me look younger!

Rosie - I miss you.

Missy - That skirt is an old staple. Glad it's still representing.

Steph - I got that link from a few of my friends, I'm looking forward to putting it into action!

Judy - Panniers are the best. I have a red one from Jorg and Olif I take to the market on the weekends. I do just the one side as well, but if I was doing bigger groceries I would probably do both sides:)

Cycler - They're nine west!

That is an uncanny Spiderman pose. Go Dexter!

I like your point about appreciating spring more after a cold winter. That's something I love about the people of Chicago - when the weather hits 40 degrees, Chicagoans throw on their shorts for a nice run. How refreshing. In the South, people spend all winter complaining of the "cold" and all summer inside with the air conditioner jacked up.
