Hello, blog friends! So sorry about the lapse in blogging. I was really excited to upload photos and do reports on all the fun we were having but the hotel internet was so thinly distributed, it just kept freaking out every time I tried to post photos. Eventually I just gave up and figured I would do several weeks worth of purge blogging when I got back.
Over the next few weeks it's all going to be highlights from our time away, in no particular order. Today I'm doing the High Line in Manhattan. Instead of telling you about the technical aspects (how to get there, where the entrances are, how many blocks it spans, etc) I'll just recommend you go to the link and read up.
It's an excellent repurposed space that is getting rave reviews, and for good reason. It's a reminder about how urban centres can still cultivate fresh, interactive green spaces. And most of all it's really fun and pleasant. We went once the night before the morning when these photos were taken, while waiting for a table at Company, this crazy delicious pizza place. It was really wonderful at night too, very romantic and intimate. However, in the morning it was vibrant and cheery.

There are lots of amazing apartments you can ogle, and interesting buildings to see from the line.

We saw this lady (bottom right hand corner) tending to the plants.

I would recommend getting a coffee and some snack from Chelsea or other surrounding areas below. Then climbing up and taking your breakfast with a view.

Loungers you can actually push back and forth on the tracks. You can make a mega lounger for a group or just fly solo.

Kids both young and old enjoying the space.

Neat tracks that lead to nowhere. Reminds you how old the rails are and how dense the city is.

At the 20th street entrance (I think) there were cars parked like this. Density. Yes!

Back at home I'm happy to report that Dexter experienced exceptional care from my mom, dad, and sister. He's grown immensely in just a week or so and has a whole new vocabulary of babbles. Dougal missed us too (he was staying with some friends) and is being a very good dog while we're unloading and unwinding from all the travel.
Stay tuned! I missed you guys.

This looks so rad! Like a playground for grown-ups.
But... can people bike on it?
Thanks for sharing. :)
ClipX - Nope, no biking:) But it's not really useful in that way, it's more of a promenade. However, I saw lots of people bike TO the High Line, then lock up and go up and play on it. You have to ascend quite the set of stairs to get on top.
Looks like a lovely area to enjoy the evening, too. Looks so inviting! I'm sure it's like an oasis above the traffic below. And kid-friendly to boot!
