Smithsonain Museum of the American Indian.

This was the hidden gem for us. Initially we were making our way from Air and Space and a stroll around the Capitol grounds towards Jefferson monument (to photograph cherry blossoms). On the way we needed an ATM and a bathroom. We stopped at this beautiful building by Douglas Cardinal. It was the Museum of the American Indian.

It's really stunning on the inside too.

Not only was the building amazing, but the cafeteria is a serious diamond in the rough. Delicious, delicious food! The first time we stumbled across it by accident we all decided to stay and have an afternoon snack. We returned for lunch at another time too, because the items on the menu sounded so tasty.

This was my blackberry lemon tart.

We tried to be secretive while taking a photo of this guy wearing an Atlanta Braves ball cap. Aie-ya!

View of the roof of the atrium.

If you're in Washington you should check it out. We recommended it to somebody who was in WAS a few weeks after us and he reported back to say he did indeed go and loved it too.

Looks like a beautiful and interesting space. I've never been there before - so many different museums to visit in the city - but it was nice to see it through your eyes :)
