Dexter's First Birthday.

I can't believe I've had a child for one year! Dexter's actual birthday is on May 25th (Tuesday) but we had a little party for him tonight. Just some chilled out BBQ with the family and a few close friends.

I've heard that kids' parties can snowball into nightmares. The last thing I wanted was too much stuff and a big production. We had some cake. Took some pictures. Hung out with family. Sounds about right to me!

I love setting tables.





It doesn't matter that it's simple. I just enjoy things laid out and ready for food and people.

Dexter got all sorts of treats for his birthday! Some very perfect Thomas the Train stuff. Little race cars. A teddy that he is really into. A book. Here he is playing with some of this new things.

After some of our guests left, we retired to the basement to play the new guitar hero Don bought me.





It's a pretty challenging game! I usually play on Expert but today I got booed off stage several times. My poor ego.





The evening wouldn't be complete without some Dougal humiliation. One of the families that I teach bought Dexter this Burberry shirt last year. The baby wore it for a while but then changed into his pyjamas. Guess who got to wear it next?





Family time at our bungalow is the best!
