Dave has been really great at suggesting places we should go have our dinners. He's been spot on with picking moms & pops eateries, but not necessarily the trendy ones in the downtown and University area. Tonight we met up at Wasabi Sushi in the Lendrum strip mall.
I was thumbing through the closet this morning to see what I could wear (I'm horrible at turning laundry over). I had totally forgotten about this gem! I was ecstatic when I first got it on super sale. I'm a sucker for many things. Bows is one of them. And so is embroidery.

My mom taught me to tie my bows.

Sitched.

Flowers.

Dougal waiting for me to finish photographing so we can go out for a walk and then I can get three new mosquito bites.

I'm only on the sidewalk for photographic purposes.
I think I read somewhere that Cosmo really likes these shoes and was pretending they were vegan. Well, you don't have to pretend. They are fabric! The heels look like wood, but I don't think they are.

And it's true, I actually do wear a helmet most of the time. Often I take photos before I start riding, so the helmet isn't on yet.

Arrived in no time! The best place about Wasabi is how there is a bike path going pretty much the entire way.

Tea.

Crazy delicious rolls. These ones are gigantic california rolls, but with grapefruit too. It's the maki that eats like a meal.

Gotta love a sushi joint where papa is back there speaking Japanese over the counter to his wife who is on the till.

Papa makes yummy sushi.

I had my bag with the pucca pucca on it. And one of those good luck cat things that metaphorically rakes in money with their paws.

Dave rode too! His bike was built for commuting, it's much lighter than mine. But we all know how I feel about the Pashley. I'll take the extra weight for good looks.

Sunset on the way home was amazing too. Nights like this make me so happy to be an Edmontonian. Great dress. Great food. Great sky. Great bike path!

Wow, vegan shoes! Thanks for the tip. They look great on you.
So cute. Love the green ribbon - and sushi!
Can foodie - Thanks! I don't usually classify rolls as real sushi, but these ones are really delicious.
Cosmo - Thanks also! They're not good for walking long distances, but that's why the bike is handy.
That last remark re Pashley is so true. I took my Townie for a ride today and it felt light as a feather compared to my Pashley which I've been riding to work daily since March. As heavy as the Pashley is - especially when I'm on an incline - I think I got a better all-over body workout on the Townie because it works different muscles. But I love how the Pashley looks and how sturdy the components are.
I am newly married, and my husbands second love is bicycles. But only recently have I taken to his two-wheel lifestyle. For the past year or so, usually every evening, we cuddle up on the sofa and look at bicycle blogs. My favorites include copenhagencycle chic, miss Dotties blog, and of course, our fav. Miss Sara. To make a long story short, I (we) have been taking cues from your style and I absolutely adore it. Oddly enough, I am now purchasing dresses for the sole purpose of riding in them, as I don't consider myself a dressy gal. Bonus: Dresses are starting to creep into my normal fashions, and I love the compliments. I would also like to mention that 'The Adventures of Miss Sarah' provide us with a great template for our own activities. We have already scheduled a trip to Washington DC and Manhattan, Sarah inspired. When you go out find a new restruant, bakery, etc, we explore similar venues, while for the most part, keeping with the cycling theme. Our friends think we are this 'dapper' creative couple. Our little secret. Thank you.
Wasabi sushi is a great place indeed.
Yesterday I went for a run from Foote Field and I passed by the dog hang-out near your place. I thought of Dougall when I went by Sask. Drive :)
Lovely dress. Can't go wrong with bikes and sushi! :)
I just got an idea for something creative: combine the 'California roll' and 'cycling California' concepts. Where's an artist and/or graphic designer? Seems fun, non?
dag- there's no denying the weight, but I never feel tired when I'm riding it. I only notice it when I'm riding with people on feather bikes:)
Demo - You are going to kill me with your massive flattery! WAS and NYC. SO MUCH FUN:) I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. Where are you from?
And thanks so much for enjoying the blog. Sometimes I feel like I don't write enough about bikes specifically, you know... the details regarding make and brand and bits and parts. It just doesn't come naturally to me. Instead I try to document my life, which happens to include active transportation.
So I'm just over the moon that you enjoy the story about the girl with the bike, not just the story of a bike. Thank you and your husband for reading! You are now my favourite fans.
Judy - Wasabi was definitely better than Kabuki. Maybe we should do Wasabi next time! I've been meaning to get in touch with you and Bruce about some BBQ here at the bungalow, but this whole month is stupid with my school deadlines and traveling to Toronto at the end of the month. June! We'll hang in June!
Christa - Don't even SAY "California" to me. I'm so jealous of your guys weather and snow-free streets. ARRGGG! But you're right, it's a cute concept. Maybe you could organize a little ride where you and some people to get california maki.
I imagine a graphic with a bike, but the wheels are maki With the little black sesame bits on the outside acting like studded tires.
Hi!

Prajjwal - Yes, biking indeed promotes fitness, beauty, health, and a better life. Well put!
