Bikes, Dads, and a Launch Party.

Sunday wasn't only Father's Day for us, it was also the day of Don's Campaign Launch Party! Dexter was there in his little polo to cheer on his dad (thanks to Raffaella for the super cute photo).

What a great opportunity to see old and new volunteers, and people from the community.

We were very lucky to have an extremely strong volunteer base last time. They were essentially the foundation of success, particularly since we were the campaign that had substantially less funds than others. Grassroots, all the way!

Volunteers are coming out of the woodwork again, and we're so fortunate to have such support.

Here are Wade and Phil prepping the bar before the party. They were amazing! And they took very good care slinging drinks from Alley Kat and Transcend.

I had to get there early (I was the madam of the party), but Don came a little later on his Batavus.

Extraordinary Nate Box of elm café was behind the food at the party. This guy, and his beautiful wife, Claire, is amazing. He opened his own café within a week of this party and he STILL came to help us out. He is our hero. The food was fresh. The food was great.

Great to see smiling faces and bright colours at our party.

I didn't take many of my own photos at the party because I had the wrong lens for the light, and I was busy. I stole these two photos from Mack, though.

The first one is me and Sable.

These are my new shoes!

And there were several other cyclists there too. Brittany here, with her basket of stuff.

Looking good and ready to roll.

She and her finacée, Michael Janz, say bye bye to the party.

It was a lot of work, but thanks to the help of our invaluable volunteers and the civic-minded guests, it was super fun!

I enjoyed learning more about Don's views about different issues affecting our city and our riding. Also met some great people! Your mom is seriously stunning. Her posters are still around City Centre.

Judy - I'm so glad you could come, thanks again! I'm also becoming more and more available as work is winding down. Perhaps you + me = lunch or coffee soon?

Exciting! I would be so nervous being involved in a campaign and election like that, but I guess you two are used to it.

Great shoes, from what I can see of them!

Lunch sounds great! Perhaps we can ride somewhere downtown? I haven't been to the Elm Cafe. I'll e-mail you soon.

Hi Sarah! Congrats on the launch party, it looks like a great success :) I have a bikey question for you. My wonderfully old, cheap, perfect bike that I loved was recently stolen from Belvedere station. The person cut my lock and took my bike. I am wondering if you have some tips for really securing my next bike, since I plan to buy another one soon, and I need to be able to leave it locked up when I run errands or commute. I'm still grieving this one, though. :(

Good luck with Don's campaign...
Meanwhile you should add "SISTERS" to your blog title. So great that you two can hang together.
