Kerstin's Chocolates.

My friend Dave had the day off on Friday so he joined me in some downtown meanderings. Leanne has been dying to take me to Kerstin's Chocolates for ages so we joined up with her later in the afternoon on Jasper and 112th. It was an afternoon of bikes, shopping, and chocolatey goodness.

First Dave and I parked the bikes on 104th and did a little browsing at 29Armstrong and Carbon.

I wore the potato shoes.

After some more shopping in city centre we went over to city hall to pick up Leanne. Don was miraculously finished for the day too, so he tagged along.

I love Leanne's shoes. Perfect equilibrium of sandal and flat.

We were cruising down Jasper during rush hour. Got caught behind the 100 bus a few times, but in traffic like that it's just best to stay behind the bus. Once we arrived at Kerstin's we locked up to the rail.

Don had locked his bike up at the train near home and was downtown without Batavus. Since the rest of us had bikes, Don grabbed the scooter that was lying around his office and used that to keep up with us. He was actually pretty fast...

Once inside we were greeted with complimentary iced hot chocolate and special ice cream sandwiches!

So many treats.

Peanut butter and chocolate is a total home run.

Here is a whole collection of Kerstin's Chocophilia bars.

And this is Kerstin's hot chocolate. Man. It is GOOD. After sampling the stuff on ice I had to bring some home.

Pretty displays.

They sort of make you want to buy you everything.

Mushrooms!

Cocoa powder. This stuff has the most amazing colour when you compare it to the cocoa from a can from a store. I can't wait to make some brownies.

Fancy bars.

All kinds.

Even with cat packaging.

And in French.

After chatting a while with the nice dudes running the store they showed us the mixing room. Check out this custom marble work table. Sweet.

Cookies. Yum. I suspect these are the ones they used in their ice cream sandwiches?

Back stage yummies.

Sheets and sheets of them.

Loading our booty up into the bike basket.

Ready to go home! Dave, Leanne, and I rode back to the southside. Don took the scooter to the train and picked up the Batavus at the station.

Don was so multi-modal. We actually got home at the same time!

Potato shoes jar nicely with sandal/flats. What a delicious excursion you've shared with us.

Yummmmy! Chocolate heaven. Deciding what to buy (2 of everything?) would be hard. Also, Don's scooter chic is awesome.

Leanne's shoes are awesome.

I worked across the street when Kerstin's chocolate shop opened. Staff from the building went across there so much that we were given a 10% discount.

I'm not a huge chocophile like some, but even I found myself over there at least once a week.

I even got to sample the drinking chocolate when it first came available. So delicious.

fella - Leanne got the shoes at ALDO. Those things never come in my size, but it's good to see her reap the benefits.

Dexter is spending the morning breathing through his teeth like yesterday. So creepy. But funny.

I'm not a chocophile either. I enjoy chocolate. But I don't sit around dreaming about it and I never say it's better than sex.

Wow! They have Taza chocolate all the way up in Edmonton. And to think they started as a little chocolate maker in Sommerville, MA just a few years ago.
I'm not a chocophile either, but I would highly recommend buying the 70% stone ground chocolate - it's fantastic. I'm also wary when people say that a wine has hints of moss or strawberries or whatever, but seriously - That chocolate has hints of dark cherries. It's amazing stuff.

I really miss living next door. They usually gave me a "neighbourly" 10% discount, and I've ran into Leanne there at least once! The meltaways are very tasty, perhaps my favourite!

Cute skirt ;)

Lisa - Oh, the Ellis building! But it's always good to move on, too:)

Yeah, skirt looks familiar, huh?

*Lisa and I have the same skirt*

Dottie - Don was crazy fast on that thing. We rode on the street behind the bus and he was on the sidewalk and kept up the whole way. Scary.

carfree - Taza chocolate. Yeah! I'll go for 70% and see if I concur with your assessment of deliciousness. I am a big fan of cherries.
