Pecha Kucha Night 7 on Thursday was a great success! After the last one there seemed to be an appetite to put on a good show this time around.
I wasn't disappointed.
I really admired all the presenters for having the courage to get up there and share their ideas. And the overall quality of the presentations was very good.
The event was also very well attended and the crowd was littered with friends - Yay!

All brought to us by Edmonton's Next Gen.

Zoe had on a very pretty bracelet.

And necklace.

Having recently hung out with Zoe a few times I am so addicted to her. I'm telling you, this woman has a superior mind.

My sister, Sable.

Rachel.

Zoe Todd. She gave a most cogent talk on Edmonton as an Aboriginal city.

Nate Box of elm café. This friend of ours is also doing the food for Don's campaign launch party. Wicked!

Mike.

Adam.

Don! He gave a talk about city building, using City LEGO as a primer.

I know I'm biased, but I think he stole the show:)

There was a lot of after party stuff happening, but after waiting for Don to get through the throng of people waiting to speak to him, we were pretty tired. We retreated back to the bungalow with some take out curry from Remedy. A very social evening capped off with some quality domestic unwinding. It's all about maintaining the balance.

I want my husband to wear a bowtie, like the new Doctor Who and your dapper friend Mike there. Yes..Agree "Bowties are cool"? I can tell he secretly likes them. But it's tough when a certain look comes with a stigma. My love is not a hipster, or a soft edged collegiate transplant, nor a fair weather fan of the latest trends.
As strange as it sounds, I think he likes to earn certain looks. Pay dues to it's creators. Take for example, the fedora type hat he made us lug from italy. Well, it's hiding in a hatbox until, by my guess, he reaches a life philosophy found only with time. ugghh! I suppose, you can't really pull off a stylish older look unless you can tell a really great life story. And I know he peeks, like a child awaiting their gift.
Fashions are so confusing, but you seem to own your decisions, and they work oh so well. Your friends too! Bravo to them all.
I'm sure that Don impressed the crowd! If you two need help in some way with the campaignm i'm in...even if it's something small like wearing cute little buttons or t-shirts, Although I don't think I'd be allowed to ear political t-shirts at work, tho!
Demo - Mike really pulls of the bowtie. He learned to tie it on the internet... I think. Haha, you like Doctor Who?! You're just like my friend Richard! He brought over loads of Dr. Who DVDs at Christmas and we would just let them run all day while hanging out and looking after baby D.
I know what you mean about earning looks. With Don I feel as though he ascends to dapperness with his fine lines from his crazy stressful job and lack of sleep. Also, he is starting to go grey from aforementioned stress. And on the inside Don is actually a 50 year old. So he can do things like sweater vests and straw hats.
I think some dude looks are also better when they can handle well groomed facial hair.
Fashions are very personal. What works on somebody doesn't for another. I like to wear things that make me feel like myself.
Judy - Don is a great public speaker and very dynamic orator. You'll see at the party! Thanks for the offer to help, it's all the volunteers that actually end up pulling the whole thing off. Plus, it's so much FUN. The campaign is a great way to meet really interesting people too:)
I use to exhibit my art in Next Gen, but I no longer meet their qualifications (regarding age). I have surpassed the expectations.
Looked like a fun event!
I'm looking forward to mingling and hearing Don speak, even if i'm going solo I'll probably recognize some Pleasantview and Parkallen people there.
Judy - Hopefully lots of 'hood people will be there. I mean, Nate Box (who also did the menu for sugarbowl) is cooking!
And at the very least Dexter will be there.
