Folk Festival - Thursday.

Today we took Dexter down to the folk festival in his Chariot trailer!

I carried his diaper things on my rear rack.

Don is very skilled with bungees and ropes. These skills also make him great at sailing and camping.

He knows how to treat a lady right, and rode with my backpack and towed the trailer. No back sweat for me!

Some parts of the ride are idyllic and beautiful. Other parts are pretty... traffic-heavy.

Our first stop was the Rossdale community league where there was a little cocktail reception for festival sponsors.

We saw this lady locking up her Devinci Copenhagen while we were likewise locking up.

While Don was listening to greets and mix-mingling, Dexter played with the various components on his trailer. I am so grateful to the family who gave us this trailer. It is handy to boot. Very sporty, but rolls like a dream. Big, but wicked as a stroller too.

He loves spinning the wheels.

We left the community league party for dinner at the festival. That lady with the Devinci? We made friends with her and her husband and we rode over together as a peloton. It was great to chat and ride with fellow cyclists, we even shook hands and did introductions while riding (didn't shake hands on a busy road).

Festival eats are awesome. The food is great and it's all possible because of the volunteers. The artists and volunteers all eat the same food in the same tent. Very communal!

We sat and enjoyed dinner with our new friends.

Then we took to the hill to find our friends.

Dexter was too warm so we took his pants off.

Our friend Kris lay down a few tarps for us, to accommodate our folk fest family and Dexter's gear. We were far up today, but the view was fab!

We ran into lots of friends. Like Diana (left) and her super cute son, Ewan.

We tried to keep Dexter confined to the tarp but he was a busy busy little man.

Lots of friends came to visit. Like Alwen!

Alessandra.

Lisa.

Ben!

Dexter loves to play with cell phones.

There are big screens so you can see exactly what's happening on stage.

Those are the CD tents, the food tents, and the beer gardens!

Dexter enjoys a milk with his mama.

From what I heard tonight I really liked Patrick Watson & the Wooden Arms. Kate Rusby was okay, but I was a little distracted with all our tarp company. Gord Downie was... sort of off. I hate to be negative but I wasn't really feeling it. Strange banter, back up singing out of tune... just not striking the right balance for me.

We left before the final act, Ben Harper. From what I see of the tweets it sounds as though he was good. We wanted to get home in time to put Dexter in a bath and get him down for bed. I know, that sounds so boring. Hey, he is coming to the festival for the next 3 days and nights.

We have to conserve our energy:)

See you on the hill tomorrow!

oHHHH, and how did I not see your new blog header before. Cute!

That woman who is knitting beside you looks so matronly. I wonder if she's someone's grandmother ;)

If I could figure out how to strap my deluxe six-position chair to my back I might try riding to folk fest one day. But walking is damn convenient.

Sable - Will continue to post, don't worry!

sara - We just had a friend over the other day that was saying my life online looks crazy active. I think it's just because my photos tell good stories? And I don't even blog about all the different things I go do:) Maybe I am crazy active...

Oh, and the header was designed by my friend Dave. How he spoils me.

Fella - She also kept doing this crazy head shaking dance. Really got Dexter all worked up.

Fella - Oh, and you should most definitely keep walking. I think walking through the leg grounds at night is really beautiful and if I lived as close as you did I would totally do it up. Riding with the chairs is a bit of a challenge unless your rack is fortified and foolproof. Last think you need is your beloved chaise flying off the bike as you hit a pothole going downhill at breakneck speed:)
