(That little bow on my dress usually lives in my hair, but I put it there when I have my helmet on)
Rode out to breakfast with the Scouts this morning. Kris wanted to get-together before he and fiancée Michelle took off for Banff.
One of the reasons Don, Kris, and Ben are such good friends is because they all lived within walking/biking distance of one another. Consequently, they generally went to the same schools, played on the same soccer teams, etc. It's easy to hang out with your friends when they're just a short ride away.
This dawned upon me when Ben rode the 2ish blocks over to the bungalow this morning (we now live in the neighbourhood where his parents still live). Then we all rode over to breakfast together.
We had to wait 15 minutes for the next one so we strolled around the corner and saw lots of preparations for the Fringe Festival.
Don is a member of the Radial Railway Society so we have a family pass for the street car.
The view from the bridge. Most of the time I ride on the bridge in the bike lane, but today we were on top!
Fun times.
And that's Monday so far.

Street car looks like fun! I think I'll take it during Fringe! Also, Mom and I still miss baby d! But we'll get lots of time with him when we get back...
The conductor in your photo is my friend's step dad! Chris loves volunteering with the RRS.
Looks like a great way to start the week...I'm not jealous, I swear.
What a fun time! I love how getting from place to place can be so entertaining when bikes (and awesome streetcars) are involved.
Street car scenes remind me of my times in New Orleans. Hey-- I don't think I've seen snaps of your Madsen lately. I saw you now have a trailer. Do you also ride with D sitting up & strapped in on your Mad? (I don't know what age that works.)
sara - Haven't been using the Madsen much lately. Dexter is too squirmy to sit up on the bench with just the one seatbelt across the waist. And he can't walk yet so I would have to either carry him on the other end or bring another stroller. For now the trailer works really well because it has a 5 point harness, he's old enough to sit upright, but it also doubles as a stroller.
Madsen will make a comeback when D can sit up like a civilized man.
Hi,
As a boy from Melbourne (Australia) I'm a bit sad seeing that you guys have got our trams. We're now short of trams and our stupid government are making us use these soul-less modern vehicles, that have ticket machines instead of conductors.
Just remember to never ever let your government sell off your stuff - public transport, utilities, etc - you can never buy them back.
Love your blog.
Cheers,
M
Anon - Good on you for recognizing the trolley!
Sadly, Edmonton has recently gotten rid of street cars too. It's heartbreaking because we had miles and miles of infrastructure set up to run them. There used to be one in front of my house and the day they came and pulled the post out of the ground and took down the line? I was so sad.
We advocated heavily for it, but the votes fell in favour of the other side. Diesel buses? Uh... great.
:(
