Don and I attended the wedding of friends tonight and I am happy to say it was a great time! I generally like going to weddings. It's a group of people coming together to celebrate a relationship. The food is usually yummy, there are lots of good vibes, and everything is very pretty.
This wedding was particularly cool because the bride and groom took extra steps to be environmentally conscious.
They used My Invitation Link for their e-invitations. No need for lots of paper and printing.
They also had this glass system. Your wine glass had your name and table number on it, and you take it to the bar to get access to the open bar. The point is that it takes a considerable amount of water to wash glasses, so encouraging guests to reuse the same glass saves dish-water. Plus, you get to take the glass home. What a great idea!
Finally, they also took the funds that would otherwise be used for favours and donated it to charity. Wicked.

That's my card and clutch up there. I love that clutch. My god-mother gave it to me and I believe she bought it on a cruise ship in the 80s. It's pretty flashy but that's why I love it, and it goes with everything.
Don was concerned that his shoes were "too much" and I assured him they looked fly.
The room was really beautiful. The reception was held at Fort Edmonton's Air Hangar. It's a great space that can host tons of people and also lends itself well to any occasion. I've been there for other events and it's always a really good time.
I love how special presents look.

The centrepieces were pretty and purple.
It was a good looking wedding.
Great dresses all around.
The girl I was sitting next to had a great clutch too. I asked her about it and am happy to report that it's vintage. She also has twins that are one month older than Dexter! We shared lots of toddler stories.
Handsome groom.
Beautiful bride.
More pretty dresses.
And shoes. I'm so into metallics and bling, very predictable that way.
Hello! Some guy noticed me taking photographs and asked if he could take one of me with my camera. Why, of course.
Even the speeches were good! Lots of heartfelt proclamations and genuine expressions of happiness for the occasion.

It made me so pleased that these friends took the extra few steps to think about reducing the waste factor at their event. Invitations, glasses, favours... all these things can add up. When I went to the bathroom I even saw that they had big towels laid out so people could dry their hands that way instead of using dryers or paper towel.
It's these little things that make my day.
What a wonderful night celebrating with my friends. It always warms my heart when two good people find happiness together.
