When it Rains it Pours.

It was gross and rainy today. I had three places I had to hit before my first student arrived and after a morning of work emails and house stuff time was tight. When I was finally dressed and ready I looked at my watch and I had one hour.

I hesitated. Then I just grabbed my purse and went for it. Standing around debating time wasn't going to result in anything being done any faster.

On rainy days like today I am thankful for the Pashley and the visor on my helmet. No mud splatter or racoon eyes for me. The Pashley's fenders and skirt guard protect my everyday fashions. Today I wore the woodland dress with thick tights and a long Mr. Rogers-esque cardigan.

Went to get office supplies, music books, and bakery stuff (dull, I know, but true).

When I was looking for a coat to wear out I realized it's the kind of weather for my heavy trench coat again. Sigh. It just seems like yesterday I took that thing off. Now I'm back in it with super scarf and gloves.

Despite the cold and the rain, my leather saddle, leather bag, leather gloves, and leather shoes all went out and experienced the elements. No specialized rain gear was required. Everything dried eventually and I ended up wiping up the rain off my saddle with the butt part of my Marc Jacobs coat. So classy.

A familiar scenario (save for the music books)! Pashley is the best in the rain.

Rain usually is fine, but yeah, sometimes it takes some convincing. Especially now that I don't have to ride daily I feel that I often hesitate to dust off my bike when it pours... Much easier when one cycles on a daily basis anyhow. It's also easier to know what clothes are exactly needed for what kind of weather. It's all about routine. You certainly know the advantages of your outfit.

Miss Sarah...I'm loving your back-to-school, back-to-the-grind, errand-running, yucky-weather, trench-coat-despising posts these past two days. It's just what I need to hear because...
...well...
...they're MY SENTIMENTS EXACTLY...haa haa!!

I'm loving the purple tights...especially with the brown shoes. Perfect *sept*oct*nov* outfit compliment.

Good for you!! I too recently rode in the rain (but I put on a helmet cover with an xtra long visor!, and wore a all-weather coat) and loved it. I liked being out in the "elements", biking kept me warm and it was great to come back and make a nice big bowl of squash soup! The contrast between cold outside and cozy inside makes biking in the rain worth it!

Lovely - She is a sweet rain bike, indeed.

Anna - I feel like a farmer all the time. I'll check the weather forecast but I also stand outside on the porch and stare at the sky to see the cloud patterns and direction of wind before I choose what I'm wearing that day. I'm such a dork.

Amanda - I love my trench coat... I just feel like I wear it all year:(
I love those tights. They're really thick like the kind you would have when you were a kid? Very durable. I can't stand tights that get a hole the first day I wear them. It feels like I just took $10 and threw it in the garbage.

paddy - I need to pull out my slow cooker and get going with the warm soups and stews. Speaking of squash, Leanne is coming over tonight to make a thai curry with squash!

I love those shoes- I have been searching for just the right "Granny boot" style for what seems like months now. I've been drooling over some Cole Haan ones, but think they're too delicate-heeled for me.
What I'm really trying to duplicate are these ones I owned in Italy years and years ago. Guess I'll keep looking..
