This Halloween weekend is supposed to be decent, weather-wise, but it's definitely cold out there. This week has had us hovering steadily around 0 degrees during the warmest parts of the day. Not really the stuff dreams are made of.
Finally got around to picking up my revitalized boots! This particular pair has been to the shoe guy no less than 3 times. They're not much to look at when my feet and legs aren't in them, but they're wonderful. Go with everything. Tough as nails.

The wooden platform parts on the bottom have really protected the leather portions. Shoe-guy made them all shiny.
I've had these trusty boots since the 2006. Every year I go out shopping for new ones (sometimes successful, sometimes not), but these are still my favourites. They're from Topshop in London, UK. They go all the way up to my knees.

This pair is newer from last year. The lower, thicker heel makes these more conducive to hours of walking. These are actually lined with insulation, charcoal grey, and have a lot of stitching.
I'm pretty "whatever" about the detailing. I actually prefer my boots to be as non-ornamental as possible, but the stitching isn't as noticeable once I've got them on.
The fit on this pair is very snug, thanks to Browns carrying size 5 all the time! They're not slouchy like the previous pair, which make them good for wearing under jeans in addition to them being good for jeans getting tucked-in.
So much talk about boots!
Well, when you live in a city with freezing temperatures for much of the year, you have to know what you're looking for. Up here, a good pair of boots goes a long way. I am so impressed and grateful my hard-working boots have been rehabilitated. Thank you, Southgate shoe guy!
Winter?
Here we go.

I love you boots!! My love for boots have renewed after finding a plethora of wide calf ones on the internet. I finally have not owning any since High School finally own my own pair of knee high riding boots:)
Makes me happy!!

I love your boots. As much as I love books and bikes, I think that few experiences are as satisfying as finding the "right" pair of boots. I was lucky enough to have found two really nice pairs of Sundini boots about ten years ago, before their prices went through the roof. I was even luckier still that those boots were available in my size (equivalent to 11 wide).
Happy Halloween Sarah!
Thanks for a tip on your Southgate shoe guy! I've got a beautiful pair of Repetto's that were also the dog's first victim! I'm hoping he can work a miracle on the heel!
Can't wait to see if Dexter had a costume!
I love wearing boots; that's one aspect of winter I certainly look forward to.
Those are all great boots! I need a shoe guy. I've never taken any shoes anywhere, but I know they would last longer if I got taps or whatever put on them.
I love boot season, but sadly there's a window of only a few weeks when I can wear my cute boots. Very soon it gets too cold and I spend endless months wearing snow boots. My toes must have bad circulation because they freeze very easily.
Fiona - I like boots because they keep my calves so warm!
Justine - It's like finding a soul mate.
Leisha - Repettos... so delicious. Dougal's shoe victims didn't survive at all:(
Velouria - I don't like that there's not a lot of variety in my shoe choices, but I like how utilitarian they are while still being stylish.
Dottie - Maybe the cold toes just don't bother me so much, I wear these boots out in all weather. My "snow" boots are the ones I take sledding and dog walking. I'm thinking of getting a fur pair this year (a la moccasins) and seeing how those are in terms of warmth. I know your hands get cold too:(
I have a pair of MIA boots from over 10 years ago that I resole every few years, I love them. Haven't tried biking in for fear of doing further damage...I'm going to check out Browns :-)
