Friday Night.

Sable informed me that Halo was to be hosting a MOD music night this Friday.

We decided to go dancing. I wouldn't usually plan to go clubbing since I've got Dexter and I teach in the morning on Saturdays, but due to some scheduling, D was staying overnight with mama/papa Chan and my first Saturday morning students are on a vacation and absent.

It was lots of fun!

Though, the evening started elsewhere at an EFCL volunteer recognition dinner, where there were lots of friendly community league folk from across the city, and a jazz band (please notice the guy on keys giving me a thumbs up in the back).

Something about this dinnerware makes me want to steal it and take it home. I seem to gravitate towards things that have a sense of nostalgia to them. These are just the perfect hybrid of Denby china and truck stop diner flatware.

You will clearly have to forgive the inconsistent quality of photographs. Lots of girl bloggers comment on how great their partners are for photographing them. Don doesn't have a lot of patience for such things.

This was my outfit. The bottoms are shorts! Puffy, high-waisted, black satin shorts.

Don bought me this melamine bunny pin at Avoca when we were in Dublin.

I was lucky to arrive at Halo just in time to get in without waiting in line. Sable and friends were not so lucky and were standing out in the cold for almost an hour while I was inside with drink on the dance floor.

Waiting at the bar.

And running into friends! The tall guy back there is Tim, the student who is doing that Anthropology project on different cyclists. The two ladies are his acquaintances. I believe the girl squished in the middle is also named Sarah, and is a reader of this blog. It was very loud so I wouldn't be surprised if I got her name wrong or messed up the details somehow. Regardless, it was nice to meet you!

And finally, Sable arrived and we spent a few more hours out on the dance floor before my feet really hurt from my heels and we went home.

Though I am not out dancing nearly as much as I used to (that is an understatement, since the last time I was out was in the summer of 2009), some simple rules I have about nightclubs remain the same.

If the dance floor is very very crowded, one should be discouraged from 1. Dancing in a circle with friends (time to squish and stagger, people), 2. Wearing huge and bulky shoulder bags, and 3. Making giant motions with choice of dance moves.

These trespasses aside, I had a very good and fun time because of my other rule about clubbing.

That is, having a friendly and positive attitude!

Super fun dancing times! They played lots of my favorite MOD favorites. I requested "I Saw Her Standing There" and I was sad that I was outside for it. However, after the song ended I was granted entry by the bouncer so it was a lucky song for me!

Miss Sarah, you are right. Blonde beauty sandwhich lady is my other friend Sarah. I think you two would love one another. She is my most two-wheelin' active lady friend, I think.
