Today was COLD. I just checked the weather online and it says it's -11C (11F) but feels like -18C. Must be the wind? It didn't think it was so bad before heading out earlier today and I wore these boots.
And a long sleeved scoop neck t-shirt, tweed skirt, and silk scarf with a cat on it.
Upon going out I realized I was going to need something heftier for the evening's dinner excursion.
Time for the parka. Oh yeah. Trusty parka. So puffy and warm. But so, parka-ish.
I actually consider taking the bus or driving instead of riding.
But I went! And it was fine. On the way out the only thing that was cold were my knees. Thank goodness for the padded winter helmet or else I would have had the dreaded ear-freeze.
Enjoyed a Po'Boy, cherry coke, and some key lime pie at Dadeo.
And came out later to find a light dusting of snow on the Pashley.
The ride home was quiet and calm.

And my knees were no longer cold. I think the wind was blowing the right way for the ride home.
Bring on the snow, winter Kona and I are ready! Don has changed out my tires to the studded ones and has finally put my fenders on so I can even go out in the splattery and gross brown snow too.
See you out there!

you are much braver than I! cheers and happy riding.
I found the blizzard conditions for today too much in PG! It is very very gusty outside and heavy snow. Do you bike in a heavy blizzard with high winds? Some parts of the City had their power knocked out, that's how strong the winds are.
I pushed my luck biking to work this morning as it wasn't snowing. I tried biking home, but hard to stay on bike with the strong ice cold gusts blowing towards me. I just walked it home but it really wasn't too bad as it's only a 20 min walk to home.
I had couple of problems with bike too, back v-brakes wouldn't work, guess rim were frozen, so no grip. And my chain links froze up so couldn't pedal very much..I just gave up today. Hope storm blows over soon. Does the chain links freeze over on you Kona? (I'm assuming that it's a Mountain Bike?)
My sister & I went to DaDeO last week. I had the fried oyster Po'Boy and it was delicious!!
We also went to the Gravity Pope sale but the line-up was insane so we skipped it.
Yay for winter riding! I'll see you outside!
DaDeO looks great, but as a New Orleanian it would be remiss of me to overlook the common but entirely inaccurate characterization of New Orleans cuisine as Cajun. Of course both the media and tourism industry, including ours, have seized it in recent years (quite successfully, I should add). So here's the real story, which may make for some interesting dining conversation. http://herbsaint.wordpress.com/2008/12/20/what-is-the-difference-between-creole-and-cajun/
Sigrid - Sometimes I have to force myself to go. Or leave the house before I have too much time to reconsider.
Carolyn - I work at home so I am really flexible with choosing when I want to go out. Super windy and snowy days are not my idea of a good time;( My chain generally works until around -20C. Then I do get problems.
Judy - Philly Cheese for me, and sweet potato fries!
Road - This is probably akin to how I feel about a lot of "Chinese" restaurants:) Funny, because I never really think of Dadeo as a cajun joint. I always think of it as the Po'Boy joint. It's been there for ages and I'm pretty sure there are Asians back there in the kitchen, not cajuns.
