Advent Day 10

As soon as he assembled it Don exclaimed, "It's LEGO Simon O'Byrne!" And the angle is a bit off in the photo, but I definitely have to agree. If any of you guys know him, let him know there is a LEGO version of him in the advent box.

Today featured a lot of Dexter! I love love love spending time with the little dude. Funny, because that sounds like a given. However, I never thought about it that much until somebody had mentioned to me earlier this week that Don and I would probably really like a night out without the kid. Then it struck me. Because of both our respective lines of work, opportunities to not be around Dexter are numerous. I actually miss the little dude a lot! That's why I usually spend my day off hanging out with him.

We had to start the day with his 18 month set of needles. So sad! You're instructed by the nurse to hold the baby down a very specific way and you have to make sure he doesn't move. The first one was heartbreaking. Dexter made the most hopeless little whimper. And since he was anticipating the second needle he just sort of went limp, then cried. Wah!

But he has always been quick to recover from needles. So afterward we visited the music store on Whyte avenue where he first accosted the percussion instruments, then abused a keyboard, and finally started rifling through theory papers.

Gordon Price Music has been an institution on Whyte ave for many years now, and they have this amazing window display!

The little nutcracker soldiers are motorized and march their little legs.

Dexter thought it was awesome.

This is the western half of Whyte ave at this time of year. Very snowy!

I love how tiny D looks in the bottom right hand corner.

And we went up the next street to meet my friend Chrissy for brunch. She just had twins and she was such a trooper, packing up her little girls and braving the cold.

I was tempted to get the Urban Diner's mac n' cheese, one of my favourites. But I got something with fries because they are a treat for Dexter. Chrissy ordered the mac n' cheese instead and I was envious.

Awww... little baby!

Too bad Dexter isn't interested in the little ladies yet. He would rather make out with his milkshake.

Having some eats at a locally owned and operated business with one of my best friends (I have known Chrissy since grade 1), and taking my little D for needles and milkshakes.

Day 10!

It's neat to watch Dexter grow. He's so independent now....toddlers are such a joy! And the last photo is adorable.
His interest in the ladies will develop but it's more likely that the ladies will notice him first. A piece of advice I should've given Isaac in grade 3: If a girl asks you to pull her pants down, don't do it! (shudder)

Missable - He had mitts too, but ripped them off.

Judy- EWW. Indeed. I will inform Dexter that a lady can take her own pants off, thank you very much.

that's T's favorite lego so far.

our vaxes are all at once- sometimes two RN's come in with a needle each and 1 2 3 go right inthe thigh. Poor kiddos are sucker punched. I'm thankful for the flu mist and that both my kids can take it. So at least no yearly flu shots.
