I am happy to report that we have arrived safe and sound in Hong Kong after a grueling 20ish hours in transit. The winter weather here hovers around 15C which has me in dresses with bare legs, and also has all the locals staring at me like I am crazy because they're all in wool coats and puffy jackets. I threw on a blazer and my scarf from home in an attempt to blend in, but I'm pretty sure I'm one of the only person around here that isn't wearing socks.
Due to jet lag we were up bright and early this morning, so my aunt took us for a stroll around the neighbourhood so Don could get his bearings. We saw this cute street sign and I noted that it looked a lot like me and Don when we're walking together.

I keep passing up great photo opportunities because I'm too shy to get into people's faces, but I'm glad I decided to photograph this adorable old guy waiting for his table at the dumpling restaurant.

They don't take reservations, so we checked out the menu during the wait.

My cousin Allison and her husband, Tim, consult with Don.

I wrote an email to some girlfriends earlier, trying to describe how amazing these dumplings were. Words don't really due justice to the taste. Such amazing flavour and texture in the "skin".

The buns were great too.

So were the noodles. And it's too bad this girl's hair ties are facing downwards, since they were Hello Kitty and so cute.

There is an army of dumpling chefs behind all the magic.

Magic!

Action.

Then we spent the whole afternoon walking and shopping on our way back to the flat. We saw quite a few Phoenix delivery bikes.

And we have to become used to the traffic since they drive on the left side of the street. Look right!

There is such a mixture of older buildings an new builds too.

I liked the mail slots in this door.

Eventually we got thirsty and popped into the 7-Eleven for refreshment. I drank a chocolate milk.

And here is a glimpse of just one of the many street markets.

Since we're still recovering from jet lag and generally here to chill, the itinerary is unfolding spontaneously. One thing is for sure, Hong Kong is a mecca of amazing food, shopping, and street life. We're so happy to be here!
