Phi Phi Island.

I think the most fun we had in Thailand overall, was the day we went to Phi Phi Island. We left our tour and went on a boat to see what these other islands had to offer, and were not disappointed. I had the time of my life and now have the sunburn to prove it.

On our way out of the docks we passed by these traditional fishing shacks. They are very similar to the ones in Tai O, found here in HK on Lantau island.

The ride was fun and exciting. Lots of hair flying everywhere and salty air. Nice scenery too, which was the whole point of the excursion.

We arrived at the first beach of the day and everybody just hopped off the back of the boat for snorkeling. It was actually my first time trying and I was all prepared with a life vest. Had tons of fun swimming around with fish while taking long breaths.

That's Don in the water, he is a snorkel king.

After a while we were back on board and heading to a lagoon closed in with these mountains.

The water here was much deeper and we were given the green light to dive. So people just jumped right in.

I was instructed by our excellent captain to sit atop this perch for maximized relaxation. The perfect place to get dry after diving and swimming.

After a while it was time to say good bye to the beautiful lagoon.

Soon we arrived at Maya Beach.

It was really amazing. The sand is so fine and the water so clear. I did an extended back float out in the water and marveled at nature's work.

After Maya beach was a stop to see monkey friends!

The crew had brought little bananas to throw these enterprising dudes.

They were very happy to receive banana treats and would eat them in record time.

Monkeys were followed by more beaches and snorkeling and swimming and sunning. It was truly a most excellent day and on many occasions I remarked about how fortunate we were to see these once-in-a-lifetime places.

I keep hearing that back home it snowed almost a foot last week. I realize it's cruel to put up sunny vacation photos but at least you can live vicariously! Soon I will be home and shall take my rightful place in a parka, with shovel in hand, ready to endure the rest of our harsh Canadian winter with the best of them.
