Guess what I saw a lot of today? Bike lanes. They're everywhere!
Going both ways.
Wide and luxurious.
Along the beaches.
And towards Burrard bridge.
Some of the lanes are separated with little planters too. It's very simple, but looks effective.
I am also very jealous of the many trolleys running all over town. They're so quiet!

Ugh, there is ONE bike lane in our nearest town and its pathetic, @ 12 inches wide... these look like heaven :)
Is this in the same city? There's so many different designs...
Despite living in Vancouver, I've never seen that first one before. Do you happen to remember where it is? And on the topic of so many designs: it is a bit of a patchwork. Growing pains? I didn't really notice it until seeing all the varieties (and there are more) shown here side by side.
Mandy, I think that first one is in Richmond running on the road that's next to the Canada Line.
Oh how I miss Vancouver's warm weather and bike infrastructure. :( I'm glad it's finally starting to thaw here in Edmonton!
Kelly - Bike action here is indeed drool worthy. They have these wonderful handy and compact fold-out maps of all their bike routes here too.
Miami - I think Mandy is right and some of the bike lane stuff is old and some new... either way, there's lots!
Mandy - Karen is right on this one. The first one is underneath and along the Canada line, in Richmond.
Karen - It's awesome here. I was in your old 'hood earlier today and thought of you!
I miss my old 'hood. :( The photos from Stanley Park made me nostalgic.
I did get out for a short bike ride here in Edmonton today though. Rode my road bike to redbike to take it in for a tune-up, and picked up our new Linus Dutchie! Wheee!
