June Critical Lass.

June 22, 2011

Above is one of my favourite photos from Monday night's Critical Lass ride. Bike with fenders. Flowery dress. And a fanny pack done up right. That's right, I said fanny pack.

The ladies met at the bottleneck by the high level bridge, but I couldn't make the meet-up time because of my students. They were kind enough to ride past my train station to pick me up on their way south.

I ate a mint chocolate bar while I waited, then my lady crew arrived!

We went along the bike path.

Stopped and waited at intersections.

Looked both ways before crossing streets.

Wore hands-free bags.

Coasted through the neighbourhood of Duggan.

Rolled over to Yokozuna for some eats.

Discussed chopstick use.

The organizers made awesome little spoke cards.

There were fancy shoes.

Nothing caps off a dry (it's been non stop rain here) and delightful evening like leisurely coasting to the train station and other bikey arteries on the way home. My route is north on 106 Street, then west on 76 Avenue to Belgravia.

The next Critical Lass is on July 24th for an exploration of Alberta Avenue and the surrounding 118 Avenue area. Until then, keep pedalling!

So glad you were able to come, Sarah! It's always a blast riding with you.

I think the best part of your favourite shot is that both her Coach belt-bag and made-in-Japan Apollo were freebies - the bag was a dumpster-dive find, and the bike was rescued after several months of back-alley abandonment. Doesn't knowing that make her look even more stylish somehow?
