Mid Week Steak Frites.

September 26, 2011

A girl is hungry after work. When the weather is fine, a hungry girl rides across the river in search of steak frites.

At the Marc, the frites come with truffle butter.

Despite arriving without a reservation, there are always cozy spots at the bar.

When the first wave of dinner patrons clear out, girl and her friends can snag a table.

Tuck in!

And on the way home, steak frites live happily inside a girl's belly.

The end.

P.S. Girl saw at least 3 cyclists on the way home without lights. Girl wants these cyclists to know that no visibility is very dangerous and vexing to others.

mmmm. East coast girl wishes she could hang out with hungry girl as she is always doing fun stuff East Coast Girl would enjoy. Am planning a short trip out to Edmonton in June. am hoping to get the in laws to stay home with the kids while I actually explore the vibrate city culture you've been writing about. I hope it happens. Sadly the chances of us doing it on bike are nill... but still.

Mama - Can we have a day of fun together? That sounds so gooood! Also, coming to visit in-laws is all about them hanging out with the grandbabies anyway, right?

I say I get a complimentary pass for grandparents to take your kids somewhere fun for the afternoon or something, and you and I go have a crash course in Edmonton-fun.

And it's not like your babies have to nap anymore. They seem pretty functional on their own?

You + I can do it up on bikes:) And if grandparents can handle being away from grandkids, we can throw them into whatever cargo bike that happens to be here. Or just have a train adventure on foot.

Sorry for being all bossy and long-winded, I'm just SUPER excited for a possible visit with you.

:-)!!!

Although I spelled vibrant wrong!!!

Well that sounds devine. The family I visit are old. 91 yr grandmother and her daughter is 70+ but not in the best shape. But... my MIL and FIL might come at the same time and they can handle my crazy duo. But getting away for a little fun would be a welcome change our usual itinerary of mall, mall and more mall. :-)

Mmmm, frites with truffle butter! You're making me hungry, but it's way too late to eat, plus I have no frites handy.

Totally agree about bikes without lights. Dangerous.

Dottie - I find the no lights thing particular creepy on the multi-use trail on the bridge I take all the time. Everyone is supposed to stay on their right side, but it's hard even to see the pedestrians. So if you can't see the bikes coming, it's hard to pass the pedestrians without the possibility of ramming head-first into another cyclist. What I do right now is listen to the sound of the bike instead, which is not the easiest way to tell if a cyclist is there, and how fast they're going!
