Make It!

November 18, 2011

I missed last year's Make It! craft show, so I made sure to hit it this year.

Even though I got a few gifts for friends, I basically ended up getting a bunch of gifts for myself. Oops.

If you're in Edmonton over the weekend, please try to make it out! It's great to meet the vendors themselves and I feel like the whole shopping experience is so much more authentic. All your money goes to the vendor's little business. It's a good thing!

Like those adorable cards up there from A La Carte. She has a fantastic collection of stationary. There was a pack of cards that featured print-pressed bicycles from India.

I also picked up a pair of edit mittens too, since all three paris of mitts I currently own have been orphaned (only 1 left from each pair). I figured these purposefully mismatched mitts made out of recycled sweaters would do the trick. I'm not sure if you guys know, but Edmonton is currently very COLD.

Now that my bangs are long enough, I'm rarely without a bobby pin to keep it all off my face. This Whimsical Elements bobbies are made of vintage buttons and fabric!

And I was happy to add to my Toodlebunny collection.

I also picked up some gifts from Bang Bang Bijoux too.

The Make It! show is faraway, but we took the edge off by carpooling. So grab a friend and go get some holiday prezzies for you and those you love.

fun! I often miss my local crafts show too but am able to go this year. And it's now at the high school which is a nice ride from us so it's going to be a double yay.

I hope I find some fun finds as good as yours.

Did you go today? I heard there were mega-lineups. I rode my bike to the spring show at the same location - You can get most of the way in bike lanes and on quiet residential streets - but with the snowy roads I'll be carpooling to this one tomorrow.

Also, for other Edmontonians, we've got a roundup of all the upcoming craft shows in our area at City and Baby.

Mama - There is another show i want to hit in December, which I can get to by train. Hopefully it won't be as cold as this past Friday. JEEEZ.

Karen - I try my best not to go during peak hours (post-work and weekends). Since the show starts on Thurs and Fri, I try to hit it up during the day, so the crowds and lines aren't so much a problem for me!

I can't wait until the LRT goes down that way:)

Edit Mittens are the best!!!!! I want to get another pair to replace my old ones. They are the best mittens imo. They kept my hands so toasty all winter while riding my bike. When it is really, really cold I add a snowboard glove liner to them but its not really necessary. You will love them.

Dag - I was thinking of getting some liners, but didn't know exactly what I was looking for. Now I know! I think some running shops, etc should have that sort of thing... right?

yes running shops would carry them too. I just use the ones that happened to come with my snowboarding mitts.
