So the earls on Jasper has been there ever since I can remember (I think this location was the first and opened in 1982). Every time we would drive downtown, there it was with it's long promenade with giant parrots all over the place. Sounds tacky, I know, but somehow it never seemed out of place.
In University they had cheap margarita nights, and my young friends and I would be all over those slushy, fruity concoctions.
I was never a regular, but I was intrigued enough to check out the newly renovated digs at their party this weekend. It was impressive!

We got there late and missed a lot of the food, but I heard they were circulating mini portions of everything off the menu. I was lucky enough to snag a slider at one point.

The new dining room is super cozy and a little rustic, and there is a huge long bar that runs all the way across the windows that face Jasper.

Based on what I saw, I'd definitely go back.

And here we are, with Don trying to correct our immense height disproportion.

Even though earls is now a chain, I'm happy that an Edmonton-Alberta restaurant has grown up in this way. Long live local!
