The final post on my vacation in New York features a whole day of hanging out with the urban family, after a whole week of hanging out with said family. We were gathering at Dan & Leanne's to watch the season premiere of Game of Thrones.
Here is Dan, walking around with his zombie axe for some reason, and I'm on the couch getting caught up on Richard's Walking Dead comics.
I really miss my friends! There are few people you can hang out with completely without pretense. Somebody says something you think is dumb? You can openly disagree. Somebody is treating you like a jerk? You tell them. Richard and I are sort of like an old married couple, so that's where the previous comment comes from!
It's also refreshing to be around people who know you so well, they understand what you like and don't like. You don't have to spend lots of time detailing your thought process regarding anything. They know. When your flaws come rearing, everybody can laugh about it together. Nothing you say gets put through some strange filter, only to come out at another time, out of context and misunderstood.
The vacation to New York certainly was a parade of food, drink, and the late night train, but the best thing of all was being able to be unfiltered with people I care about.
