The first weekend after the election featured hosting a volunteer appreciation party!

Earlier in the day, Dexter and I went to get a trim at Barberha. He took it all very seriously. Particularly the part where we ate a cinnamon bun in the waiting area together with all the grown up men.

Later on, I hopped onto the train to head downtown.

The event ended up having both the current mayor and the mayor elect present, so their worships did a little tag team on addressing the crowd.

After the event, we went over to our volunteer appreciation and hung out with our campaign crew until late.

The next morning, Don returned from his breakfast with prezzies from Mayor Nenshi. Knitted monkeys for the kids - So adorable and thoughtful! The special popcorn treats are from my students.

On the way out of town we stopped at elm café to grab a bite and ran into Julianne with her adorable baby.

Out of town trip was to Alberta Beach for late uncle Ernie's memorial. We wore plaid in honour of the plaid shirts he was always sporting.

Then back into town. Changed out of plaid and into layers for Nocturne at the AGA.

When the kids came home, Dexter rushed over to claim the "rainbow" sock money and proceeded to give it love.
I also took the kids to Jackson's birthday party (Dex's buddy from school), which featured the most impressive home made cake. My favourite part is the lava oozing out of the volcano, with the fossil at the base!

And that's a wrap! Swearing-in day for the new council is this week, and I'm looking forward to taking the kids out trick or treating on Halloween.
